Do you have any vintage cloth napkins hidden away in a sideboard? Or found the desire to dig through a pile of assorted table linens at a thrift store for a few antique gems? Yes and Yes, is what I say.
But when I found myself on the receiving end of a very large stash of antique linens, I just had to give them a purpose outside of sitting neatly folded in a drawer. I wanted to showcase their vintage details and beauty. Plus I needed a table runner for my dining room table!
In 10 “frazzled-free” minutes, here’s how to create a no sew table runner. Vintage table linens or not…

How to Make a 10-Minute Table Runner with Vintage Linens
When the most “pressing” part of this crafty home project is ironing out the creases and wrinkles from these antique cloth napkins and linens you know you’re in for an easy and quick DIY project! Heat up your iron…
Supplies:
– Vintage table linens/napkins
– Heat n Bond tape
– Scissors
– Iron
how to make a no sew 10 minute table runner
After giving the linens a good ironing to press out those vintage memories, arrange the linens in a layout you like best.
Cut small strips of Heat n Bond tape to fit underneath the table linen.
Place the bonding tape at the end of a cloth napkin, put another vintage linen on top of it and lightly iron to secure.
Repeat this process until all the linens form a long chain.
How have you used vintage table linens in your home? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks Candace. As I get older, I’m trying to display more of the items I’ve been passed down otherwise, they stay hidden away!

I only have vintage tablecloths so I will need to keep an eye out when I am out and about. I love the fact that this reuses vintage hankies or napkins. It is a nice way to preserve the past.

Great idea Victoria. Sadly all our vintage linen is stuck away in a cupboard, which means no-one can really appreciate all the hard work and delicate embroidery that went into making them in the first place. I love your idea!!

I love vintage linens; I inherited my late mother-in-law’s Irish linen tablecloth and still look for napkins with shamrocks on them! I love small doilies for dollhouse tablecloths. Wounded rounded ones make great curtain valances. Pretty lace trimmed hankies make awesome bed canopies and wounded linens, hankies make great curtains, bed linens, etc. as the hemming is so fine. I can’t bear to cut up “good” ones yet! With 4 granddaughters between my boyfriend and me and at least 9 American Girl type dolls, hankies make great skirts and aprons; hemming is already done! I get 2 skirs and a halter top from 1 bandana! Doilies and hankies are also great in mixed media art and as a scrapbook page or shadowbox background; many hankies are about 12×12″. I also love Sadie Seasongoods idea of framing round doilies in a wooden hoop and adding a spider for Halloween! A bit of whimsy is a good thing!
