INSIDE: How to use personal family and kid photos to make a DIY Minted-inspired heart photo collage. DIY Valentine’s Day home decor.
I was flipping through a magazine at my sons swim lessons and actually stopped to look at an advertisement. That, like, rarely happens!
What made me stop my page flip? A stunning Heart Snapshot Mix from stationary company, Minted.
It’s really a pretty piece of art. But the price is not. Let’s just say it is way out of my stay-at-home mom “salary”, starting at $57 unframed to $116 framed. Yikes! Needless to say, I ripped out the ad and figured out how I could make my own heart photo print…

How to Easily Make Family Heart Photo Collage
It’s always fun to try to recreate an existing product and make it your own, all while doing it on a super thrifty budget. The less I can spend on a project, the happier I feel. (Strange, I know!) This project literally cost me nothing. Just a couple of hours of my time. So let the laundry sit unfolded while you search for fun photos to shrink down!
– Large wall frame
– Card stock
– Clear tape
– Craft scissors
How to Make Family Heart Photo Collage with Home Printer
Working with the dimensions of the frame I had in mind, I created a simple Minted Inspired Heart Photo Print template.
I also printed out 25 – 1.5″x 1.25″ little photo print rectangles. Cut out those little individual photo pictures.
Once all those little rectangles were cut, I then cut larger rectangles (2″ x 1.5″) out of colorful scrapbook paper.
Using a roll of tape, I taped the photo onto the scrapbook paper, attempting to make it look like a tiny little Polaroid print.
Lay out and arrange on the heart template. It’s very jigsaw puzzle-like seeing what will fit where.
Secure with a pieces of clear tape.
This is a pretty quick project and one that you can leave on your wall all year long.
Or pull it out each Valentine’s Day season and remember those happy, special framed memories.
